It's never too late to help your struggling reader!

Do you want to know how to help your dyslexic or struggling reader? You're in the right place!

I am a qualified teacher and specialist tutor for those with learning disabilities such as dyslexia.  There are only so many students I can help 1-1, so that is why I created this website.  I want to share what I know with those who need my help.

I know what it’s like to see the lights go on for a struggling reader.

That is why I am passionate to help as many as I can!

Here’s where it all began…

I started my teaching journey as a primary school teacher here in NZ.  I love teaching children and seeing their zest for life and learning in the classroom.

As I mention in my blog post, ‘Is my child dyslexic?’, when I was still a new teacher, I met a young girl who changed the whole trajectory of my teaching career.  Her struggles to read and write broke my heart.  Back then, I tried everything I knew and had been taught, but nothing helped.

It became my mission to learn as much as I could to be able to help students with learning difficulties.  I trained to become a certified dyslexia practitioner.

I learned a lot about dyslexia and learning difficulties and realised that if those children didn’t get the specific help they needed, they were in danger of losing their spark for learning altogether.

Dyslexia does not have to hold a child back! There’s nothing to fear.

When our youngest turned 8 our family found out that she also had dyslexia.  It was a great insight for me being on the parent side of things.  I also experienced what a lot of parents experience and asked many of the same questions.

♦  Surely the teachers would have alerted me to a problem?

♦  Maybe I’m just being a fussy parent?

♦  Maybe I’m expecting too much, too soon?

♦  Should I take this seriously or just hope that it will all work out in a few years time?

Have you asked any of these questions yourself?

If you are a teacher reading this, I want to emphasise here that you, our teachers, all over the world are incredible

You go to sleep at night thinking about how you can help our children.  I know, because I was one!

So thank you, for all you do!

Let’s get these children the help that they need!

With our kids who have dyslexia it is almost impossible to give them the individual help they need within a classroom setting.

Teachers are overworked and undervalued worldwide!  That is why I have created some great resources that can be implemented within a classroom setting especially for struggling learners.

It is my hope that I can use my knowledge and experience to help resource parents and teachers alike.

I am here to help you and relieve some of the stress for you and these struggling learners in the classroom!

Parents…I see you, I feel you, I hear the struggle and I’m here to journey with you and your children, to a place of hope and breakthrough!

My desire is that this website becomes a place where you will find answers and also realise that helping our struggling readers can be a fun learning adventure for everyone!!

They're not lazy!! They don't need to try harder!!

Kid’s with learning disabilities are creative, intelligent, out of the box thinkers.  They need us, as their parents and teachers to have the courage to step out of the box and teach them, the way they learn best!

My aim is to bring the spark back and to make learning fun for everyone involved!

You don't need to keep searching for solutions to help your struggling readers on your own.

You can stop the worry that your child won't ever learn, and see the spark for learning return!!

If you're anything like me, you want...

  • your kids and students to succeed!
  • you want them to be able to communicate their amazing ideas without frustration.
  • to see your children keep their love for learning!

That is why I started my journey to teach these children one-on-one and to provide high quality resources to reach as many individuals as possible.
