Description
▶️These short vowel sound games are a fun way to practice reading fluently with special ‘pick up one’, ‘miss a turn’ type cards and a selection of ‘onset and rime’ cards using each of the short vowel sounds.
▶️The game focuses on one short vowel sound at a time. Each time the child puts down a card, they must read the ‘rime’ at the top of the card and the words within that family on the card.
▶️ It is a fantastic game for practicing reading regular short vowel words. It is also great practice at blending sounds together.
▶️ You can also use these cards individually to teach rhyming words or to play memory. Place 12 cards face down (4 of each sound) and match cards with the same sound. e.g. ‘an’ with ‘an’.
▶️ Included in these updated resources are word lists for each sound that can be used as homework or for extra reading fluency practice in a literacy centre.
▶️Also included for easy reference is a one page ‘at a glance’ list of all the words used in each game.
