Description
This short vowel sounds card game is a fun way to help review and teach students the short vowel sounds for /e/. There are special ‘pick up one’, ‘miss a turn’ type cards and a selection of ‘onset and rime’ cards.
The game focuses on one short vowel sound at a time. Each time the child puts down a card, they must read the ‘rime’ at the top of the card and the words using that word family on the card.
It is a fantastic game for practicing reading regular short vowel words. It is also great practice at blending sounds together for reading fluency.
Included in this resource are word lists for each sound that can be used as homework or for extra reading fluency practice in a literacy centre.
Also included for easy reference is a one page ‘at a glance’ list of all the words used in this resource.
This card set includes the word families:-
eck, ed, eg, ell, elt, en, end, ent, ess, est, et and also in this free trial is the short irregular ‘ead’ sound. You can choose to add this in or leave it out depending on your student.
❤️ Most of all the kids love it and always ask for another round! I hope you enjoy this fun game!! Happy Teaching
